Our Services
Legal Services is the University’s internal legal office. We provide legal advice, and draft and review agreements on behalf of the University. Our role is to assist the University and its staff on all legal matters affecting the University, including reviewing contracts and agreements which are not designated standard University contracts, as required under Regulation 17.1.R.
Please note: All contracts provided by external parties, any amendments to University of Melbourne Standard Agreements, and all University of Melbourne Standard Agreements over $60,000.00 must come through our office for approval and execution.

Some of the services we provide on a daily basis include:
- agreements: drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documents such as funding agreements, leases, access agreements, services and consultancy agreements.
- providing telephone and written advice to University staff at all levels within the University.
- dealing with subpoenas and assisting the University Secretary with freedom of information (FOI) , privacy queries,
- drafting and reviewing memoranda of understanding (MOU’s) and
- drafting and reviewing University legislation and regulations.
